About the project

One day code: Yesterday took place an historic US open final between Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud. Historic not only for being the final with the youngest winner, but also because it was a tournament where all the line judges weren't humans but automated systems.
I found this very interesting and this encouraged me to make a quick computer vision analysis of one play of the match, specifically the first game of the third set.

Using the Y.O.L.O. neural network the 2 players were detected and classified on the respective regions of interest on the court, then making use of planar homographies the top view of the court was displayed and the movements of the players could be seen from the top.
Finally, to have a more visual way to see the players movements during the play, a heatmap of the game was postprocessed.

Although this analysis has a lot of room for improvement, I can say that it was fun to make and was very lucrative.

Code, set and match.
